This summer was the summer of traveling. Paul spent the end of June in South Africa for work. It was an exciting time to be in South Africa because the World Cup was going on during that time. Unfortunately, Paul was unable to attend a game. He did however go to a lion preserve (Ukutula) where he was able to pet and walk around with the lions.
As a family, we spent a week in Siesta Key. Paul, Tina, Gene, Daniel, Cristy, Katie and Eddy just spent the first weekend with us. Arturo, Yoyi, the kids and myself were there all week. Abu and Aba joined us on Tuesday. The kids had a great time watching the fireworks, playing in the sand, swimming in the ocean and even going on a pirate treasure hunt.

On the 4th of July weekend we took a family trip to Sarasota. Alexa had an even busier week because right before Sarasota she spent a few days with her abuelos in Orlando. She had a fun time playing in the pools, walking around Downtown Disney and going to the Magic Kingdom. Yoyi, Arturo and Alexa met up with us on Wednesday at the Seashell condominiums in Siesta Key. In the next days, Cristy, David, Dan, Tina and Gene joined us.
We all had a great time. A huge group of our friends along with their kids and parents were also spending the 4th of July there. Alexa and Paul Andrew had fun playing in the sand and swimming in the beach. We also got to see the fireworks show.

Summer has been real busy for us. Paul has been traveling all over the United States. In the past month he has been to California, New York and Indiana. Down in Miami, the rest of us have been keeping busy as well. Alexa's schedule is full of activities, art, music, gymboree and school twice a week for 2 hours. She also loves going in the pool. She starts swimming classes in 2 weeks. Let see how that goes. Paul Andrew is growing every day. He is now flipping over from has belly to his back and then back to his belly. He started eating baby food last week. So far he loves pears, apple sauce and bananas. He does not like the peaches.

Alexa and I had a great summer vacation while I was off from work. We went to swimming classes, Gymboree, and played at the water park at Pinecrest Gardens. The swimming lessons started out wonderfully. Alexa would happily go under water and play with the teacher, but after 3 classes she started dreading going to class. She would cry throughout most of her lesson and refuse to go with the teacher. It got a bit better toward the last classes, but she still cried a bit. Gymboree on the other hand was a big hit. She loved to hear the teacher sing and to climb all over the gym equipment. I decided to keep her in the program and we are now going after work.
Paul and I took a little vacation this summer. We took a weekend cruise aboard the Majesty of the Seas. We stopped at Coco Cay and Nassau. In Nassau we had a wonderful time. We spent the day at the Atlantis Hotel. Paul went down all the slides while I relaxed on the edge of the pool reading my book. Together we braved the river rapids on an inner tube ride. It was a great day!
Alexa has grown a lot over the summer. She is now 31.5 inches tall and weighs 24.5 pounds. She is running around the house babbling all the time. Her vocabulary is growing, but she still prefers to show you things and guide you places rather than talk. Also, if you look at the photo gallery under "One year old" we have added new pictures.

This weekend we headed down to Marathon to go snorkeling at Sombrero Reef. There were tons of fish at the reef (yellow tail, chubs, stingrays, parrot fish, squirrel fish...) Some people even saw sharks but not us. I did however, get bit on my finger by a hungry Chub.
On Sunday, we headed down to Key West. We did some walking around on Duval Street and bought a key lime pie to bring home. Later that day on the drive home we were supposed to stop at Robbie's to feed the tarpon but the rain ruined our plans.

It has been so long since I have added an entry, I am having a very hard time remembering what we have done, but I'll try my best.
Here it goes: We have been to several Marlins games, had a housewarming party (thanks to everybody who came, it was great seeing you all and the gifts were lovely), Paul's parents came in town for a Windjammer cruise (they were celebrating their 30th wedding anniversary), we spent the 4th of July at the beach over at Javi's apartment for the 2nd year in a row, and went to Danny and Jenny's wedding last Saturday.
I have no excuses for waiting so long to write, just got a bit lazy. I am going to try my best to update more frequently because there have been complaints that nothing new has been posted recently.

On Saturday, our day started with a delicious breakfast at Cracker Barrel. We then headed up to Estero because it was Paul's middle brother Dave's 22nd birthday. That evening we had a good time watching old home videos and audiotapes. On Sunday, we headed out to Lovers Key to go to the beach. Unfortunately, the day was cloudy and there were dead fish along the shore. After the beach, we had lunch and cut a homemade chocolate cake for Dave.

Gloria and I went on a quick trip down to the Florida Keys to see my Uncle Tom, Aunt Anita, and parents.
Saturday, in Key West, we played tourist. Gloria was trying out her new swimsuit, and I was breaking in my new sandals. We walked down Duval Street, and bought a Key Lime Pie for Gloria's parents. That night we had Chinese, and walked it off at a festival by the water. My fortune - "A thrilling time is in your immediate future."
Sunday, Uncle Tom took us on a boat ride around SugarLoaf Key. We saw a nurse shark in the shallow water, and a thrilling ride though the Mangroves!
(QuickTime required) (Movie size is about 3 megabytes).
Can't wait for next weeks cruise!!!

Paul and I headed out to the Fort Lauderdale Air and Sea Show to join She, Jorge and Negroni at the beach. Saw some planes (F15, F18, B2, Stealth fighter). We had to do quite a bit of walking to get there and then back to the car. Total of about 4 miles we think. All in all, it was a fun weekend. On a side note, Paul installed DirectTV in my house and we are going on a cruise June 15. More on the cruise in the weeks to come...

Took a chance on a nice Sunday to go down to the beaches around Hollywood. The recent cold weather has chilled the water a bit, just enough to keep us out. It is amazing that we were in the water just last month! With my neck injury, we weren't able to rollerblade, instead we checked out the boardwalk - next time we'll bring the blades.
